Batting at three, as well as being the leader wicket-taker at the tournament, Kerr came to the crease in the second over and stayed until the 19th when she picked out the reliable hands of Tazmin Brits on the midwicket boundary.

She hit four fours and added 57 for the fourth wicket with Brooke Halliday who hammered a rousing 38 from 28 balls. Suzie Bates, playing in her 334th international match, also played her part with 32 at the top of the order.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, the South African attack never settled against the White Fern aggression, giving away 10 wides and three no-balls.

Nonkululeko Mlaba was the most successful of the bowlers picking up 2-31 from her four overs.
